Ah yes, New Jersey. Just when you think we can stay out of the headlines, here comes the second in a pair of dueling books about the secret life of our ex-Governor – you know, the one who had an affair with the man he had put in charge of the state’s homeland security. His infuriated ex-wife is promoting her book on “Oprah” and “Good Morning America.” Meanwhile, his Ex-ness, who lives with a wealthy businessman in a lovely house not far from here, has become an Episcopalian (changing from Roman Catholic) and is studying to possibly become a priest. In all the discussions about his sexuality, I never hear anything about his colossal lapse of judgment in appointing a man of limited experience to such a sensitive position right after 9/11. But we’re far beyond that now and anyway, my brain refuses to give itself over to this ongoing soap opera.
